The Birmingham Forum opened for the first time on Friday, September 3, with a huge lineup and high standards set from the beginning.
Local hero Mike Skinner and the recently announced Belgian drum and bass pioneer Netsky served as DJ headlines.
They played with a large number of Forum resident DJs, including Theo Kottis, Erol Alkan, Yung Singh, Shosh (24-hour garage girl), Hammer, Barely Legal and Oneman.
For this coveted first event, the Birmingham Forum will give away 2,000 tickets; 1,000 of these, plus a free pint of beer provided by Coors, will be distributed to NHS, key staff and British hotel staff, and another 1,000 will be Distributed to the subscribers of the Birmingham Forum mailing list by voting.
In this season full of cutting-edge lineups of world-class DJs, live performances and influential promotions, the bar will be upgraded again.
The club itself has been completely renovated, the original woven wooden spring dance floor is put back into use, the newly polished concrete floor, the steel mezzanine with panoramic views and the world-renowned line array V series sound system.
Most importantly, Space 54 is a brand new second room with its own high-standard lighting and sound, providing a more intimate atmosphere.
Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Industry Association (NTIA), said: “The club scene has been an important part of the UK’s decades of culture and heritage.
“We need to protect it so that future generations can share their experience in this field and pursue careers and opportunities in the next few years.
“At the moment, our club is fighting for survival during the pandemic, so the Birmingham Forum will reopen, saving a cultural institution in the city and injecting much-needed confidence into the local industry, which is really inspiring. ”
