The Ryobi 18V variable speed double-action polisher was launched in December 2020, and promises to provide professional-quality surface treatment-wireless convenience. The Ryobi PBF100 polisher claims to be able to handle full-size vehicles on a single charge. It also claims to be the lightest double-action polisher in its class, weighing 3.75 pounds.
Ryobi PBF100B uses a brushed motor to run at a speed of 3,000 to 7,500 revolutions per minute. Double-acting rotation can reduce heat build-up and eliminate vortex marks.
The Ryobi variable speed double-action polisher can effectively use its battery power. Ryobi tells us that the PBF100B can run for about 2 hours on a single charge (using a 9.0Ah battery-not included). When they claim that it can handle a full-size vehicle on a single charge-this battery and running time constitute an estimate.
The Ryobi variable speed double-action polisher uses a sliding lock switch for continuous polishing. The detachable auxiliary handle supports multiple grip positions, and the bumper on the polisher prevents you from accidentally hitting the work surface. You can even install one at the end to prevent the battery from directly contacting the work surface.
We have to say that dealing with polishers is a bold move by Ryobi. In addition to PBF100B, the company now has 6″ and 10″ corded and cordless buffers. This adds a different tool-a 5-inch double-action polisher. The double action function definitely surprised us, because it has a linear rotation function and a track motion with a track diameter of 1/2 inch). It handles two common uses. Naturally, professional detail designers usually use a variety of tools to accomplish these tasks. However, Ryobi always seems to target the entry-level category, using a tool that allows you to go a long way-but at a great discount.
The Ryobi 5-inch double-action polisher brings you very close. As for the price-starting in December, you can buy Ryobi PBF100B at your local Home Depot or online for $199. At this price, you can buy the Griots G9 random orbital polisher-but it’s not wireless. The $199 cordless double-action polisher breaks new ground. In contrast, the bare metal of the Makita XOP02Z is priced at $419.
The Ryobi PBF100B polisher is equipped with a 5-inch hook and loop support pad, finishing pad, correction pad, cutting pad, auxiliary handle, hex wrench and spanner. If you don’t have a battery and charger yet, you might as well buy a basic battery and charger setup for another $79. The operating price of a 9Ah battery is approximately US$159.
