According to police and social media posts, a 13-year-old boy suspected of pointing a gun at someone during a burglary was arrested on Tuesday after he planted his face in the newly laid concrete in Treme.
On an Instagram account dedicated to photos and videos of typical shabby streets in New Orleans, a video shot on the streets of Dumaine and North Prieur showed a jagged line leading to a mess of concrete. There are also several footprints printed on the wet concrete. In the video, a man smiled and said that the boy “face first” entered the concrete floor.
In another Instagram story showing a video of workers repairing wet concrete, a woman pointed out that the street had been a mess for a long time, and finally got some repairs when the incident happened.
Although the title of the post showing the damage stated that there was a police chase, the NOPD stated that the boy was not chased when he hit the cement.
The police received a call saying that a suspect pointed a gun at a person while stealing another person’s car on the streets of St. Louis and North Rome, and then was in the area. At that time, the police spotted a teenager riding a bicycle on North Galves Street. He matched the description of the armed suspect.
Police said the boy then peddled in the 2000 block of Doman Street, then drove through the concrete and landed in it.
The police subsequently arrested the teenager and found marijuana and stolen vehicle stolen goods on him. He was sent to the Juvenile Justice Center for a serious attack with a gun, possession of stolen items and possession of marijuana.
The authorities are looking for another man in connection with the theft of an armed vehicle. Anyone with more information about the incident can contact NOPD District 1 detectives at (504) 658-6010, or anonymously at (504) 822-1111 to contact crime blockers in Greater New Orleans.
